Agartala: The discontent in Tripura BJP over Manik Saha’s elevation as Chief Minister appeared to have blown away, with an 11-member cabinet including the two prominent dissident leaders Vishnu Dev Varma and Ram Prasad Paul slated to be sworn in on Monday, BJP sources said on Sunday.

The sources said Saha has finalised his 11-member cabinet that would include two new faces – one each from BJP and IPFT – while dropping former Tribal Welfare Minister and IPFT’s newly elected president Mevar Kr Jamatia.

The eight old faces of BJP and one IPFT minister of the previous cabinet will retain their portfolios. The cabinet members will take oath at 12 noon on Monday, the sources said.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and Paul, who skipped Saha’s swearing in earlier in the day, finally agreed to join the cabinet after day-long persuasion by senior party leaders, the sources said.

BJP’s Rampada Jamatia would be the new minister from the party, who is slated to get the Tribal Welfare portfolio. IPFT nominee Prem Kumar Reang would replace Mevar. But his portfolio has not yet been decided, the sources added.
