Agartala: Tripura has been recognized as the best-performing state in the country for implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs along with four others -Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
According to a press release from Tripura Urban Development department, Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded Tripura along with four states at Rajkot on Wednesday for successfully implementing the scheme for the urban poor.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha here confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Tripura on October 27 or 28 next to take part in the ‘Griha Prabesh’ ceremony (the beginning of staying in a newly constructed house) for the houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin.
Dr Saha said, “Modiji has scheduled to visit Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh and he may first come here next Arunachal or vis-versa on the date but not finalized yet,” and added, during the visit, PM
will address the public meeting at Swami Vivekananda stadium. Tripura has built more than 1.60 lakh houses under the PMAY-Gramin scheme in the last four years.
Meanwhile, BJP sources said that the party will begin the election campaign for the upcoming assembly poll, scheduled in February next year through the Prime Minister’s rally.
The Prime Minister will announce several new development projects to boost BJP’s election campaign trail for Tripura and meet the party leaders for election preparation, party leaders added.
