Agartala: About 40.6 per cent of women and children of Tripura were found to be suffering from anaemia while conducting screening in the first week of July under National Health Mission across the state, health officials said here on Sunday.
As many as 1799 people were found suffering from anaemia during the screening of 4429 people and of them 1034 were found to have mild, 710 moderate and 55 were severely suffering from anemia. The highest number was detected in West Tripura at 2200 followed by 909 in South Tripura, 586 in Sepahijala, 298 in North Tripura, 164 in Gomati, 126 in Khowai, 75 in Unokoti and 71 in Dhalai district.
Besides providing treatment to the affected people, the state government has launched an initiative to identify anaemia-prone zones for undertaking corrective measures at community level involving the local healthcare centres, health officials added.
