Agartala: Claiming that the voters are “fed up” with the “misrule, corruption and politics of violence” unleashed by the ruling BJP in Tripura, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Wednesday projected itself as the best alternative in the state saying the people were yearning for the Bengal model of governance.

AITC State In-charge Rajib Banerjee launched the party’s campaign for the four seats where the Assembly by-election is scheduled on June 23, seeking votes in protest against the failure of the BJP-IPFT government.

Banerjee said his party has fielded clean, educated, and energetic candidates in all four seats, and exuded confidence that they will make their presence felt in the respective constituencies, as voters want a change after 51 months of “suffering” under BJP’s rule.

“The people of Tripura are fed up with the misrule, corruption, criminalization, and politics of violence unleashed by the BJP. The state has had the experience of communist rule for 25 uninterrupted years and Congress had also been tested in 1988-93. Now, the voters are aspiring to see the governance of TMC and get benefits like the people of West Bengal,” Banerjee claimed.

He said Trinamool has already released the first episode of ‘Tripura Files’ depicting the water crisis in the state. The series is based on public suffering and the inaction of the government and many more episodes will be released in a phased manner.

“We are making Tripura Files, depicting the issues that have been on the minds of the people, From PDS to health, education to secretariat administration, everywhere BJP fomented misrule and indulged in corruption. Our aim is to give scope to the people to judge the situation properly before casting their votes in the next election,” Banerjee stated.
