Srinagar: Three militants including a top commander of “The Resistance Front” were killed in an encounter with security forces here on Wednesday, police said.
They said the three were killed in the Rambagh area in a brief encounter this evening.
“Police #neutralised 03 #terrorists in #Srinagar. Identification & affiliation of the killed terrorists is being ascertained. Further details shall follow,” a police tweet said.
Official sources said one of the slain militants was Mehran Yasin Shala, a TRF commander who was allegedly involved in series of civilian killings in Srinagar. His killing is a big setback to militants in Srinagar.
A spontaneous shutdown and protests were reported from various areas of Srinagar.
