Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress President A Revanth Reddy was put under house arrest at his Jubilee Hills residence in the city on Monday.
Reddy above left for Erravalli in Karimnagar district to take part in the “Rachabanda” programme to highlight farmers’ problems.
He was planning to show to the media how Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was cultivating paddy over 150 acres at his farmhouse in Erravalli while discouraging farmers not to cultivate paddy this yasangi (rabi)season.
Several other Congress leaders who were preparing to go to Erravalli were also placed under house arrest in different parts of the state.
Senior Congress leaders including V Hanumantha Rao, Ponam Lakshamaiah, Shabir Ali and Madhu Yakshi condemned the arrests of the party leaders.
