Total of 709 Residential Schools and Colleges set up by Telangana Govt: Sabitha Indra Reddy

Replying to questions raised by the members of the house during the question hour, Ms Sabitha said that with an aim to provide quality education to the poor students, the government has set up Residential Schools and Colleges in the state.

Hyderabad: Telangana Education Minister Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy on Sunday informed the Assembly that the government has set up 709 Residential Schools and Colleges after the formation of the state.


Replying to questions raised by the members of the house during the question hour, Ms Sabitha said that with an aim to provide quality education to the poor students, the government has set up Residential Schools and Colleges in the state.


The Minister said, after formation of Telangana, the government has set up 709 Residential Schools and Colleges as against 256 (before bifurcation).
After bifurcation, the government has recruited Teaching and Non-Teaching staff of 33,901 as against 6,079 (before bifurcation).


After bifurcation, the total number of students studying in Residential Schools and Colleges are 9,12,386 as against 1,27,214 (before bifurcation), the Minister said and added that the quantum of funds being spent on these schools and colleges are Rs 9,480 crore.


In addition to the above Schools and Colleges, 33 Telangana Residential Schools were upgraded into Intermediate with an increase of 5,280 students and staff of 471, the Minister added.
