CM Bommai congratulates Justice Nazeer for becoming Andhra governor

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaaj Bommai on Sunday congratulated former Supreme Court Judge S Abdul Nazeer from Karnataka on being appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

“Congratulations to former Supreme Court judge, Justice S Abdul Nazeer from Karnataka on being appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Best wishes for a successful gubernatorial tenure,” he tweeted.

Justice Nazeer was a part of the Supreme Court Bench that delivered the historic verdict in the Ayodhya case. He was also a part of a bench that criminalised Triple Talaq. He faces threats from PFI and other terror outfits.

Justice Nazeer was first enrolled as an advocate in 1983 in Karnataka High Court and was later appointed an additional judge in the High Court in 2003. He was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court on February 17, 2017.
