Three nurses from Manipur bag Florence Nightingale Awards

The three nurses from Manipur were Thaimei Sanahanbi (ANM), Wairokpam Hemabati Devi (LHV) and Takhellambam Helena Devi (nurse).

Imphal: President Droupadi Murmu Monday presented the National Florence Nightingale Award for the year 2021 to the nursing profession in recognition for their work.

A total of 51 nurses, including three from Manipur, were awarded the prestigious award at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The three nurses from Manipur were Thaimei Sanahanbi (ANM), Wairokpam Hemabati Devi (LHV) and Takhellambam Helena Devi (nurse). 

Female Health Supervisor, Lilong PHC, Wairokpam Hemabati has served the people for more than three decades with great dedication, commitment, enthusiasm, compassion and professionalism.

She also implemented various National health programs to the unreachable part of Manipur. As a real Covid warrior she took a great part in fighting the Pandemic along with others. She has been promoted and is now serving as District Health Nursing Officer at DH Kakching. In recognition for her work, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India presented the award to her, a statement said.

“Delighted to present National Florence Nightingale Awards 2021 to nurses for their exemplary work and selfless service. COVID-19 pandemic has shown the world the formidable spirit of our nurses — working overtime, away from families, and serving in extremely demanding conditions,” the President tweeted.

The President wished the nursing fraternity the best while stating that their contribution in strengthening healthcare delivery has been “exemplary”.

“The contribution of nurses in strengthening healthcare delivery has been exemplary. These awardees will inspire young nurses and midwives in the country to work with commitment and compassion for the betterment of fellow citizens. My best wishes to the entire nursing fraternity,” the President said in another tweet.
