Pune: The city police on Thursday arrested three people from Bihar for allegedly cheating a construction company of Rs 66 lakh.
The accused cheated employees working in Accountants department of a construction company situated in Kothrud area of Pune city of Rs 66 lakh by calling them on their mobile phones and directing them to send money immediately.
The accused used to claim themselves as directors by using their original DPs of board members on their (accused) mobile phones.
On seeing DPs of board members, the Accounts department employees used to transfer funds to accused on the given account number, said police.
The amount was transferred to accused in three installments in a span of few days.
After victims lodge the complaint with Cyber police, police have arrested three people from Bihar along with the main accused.
A police team went to Siwan district of Bihar and with the help of local police, arrested Bilal Ansari and Kamran Ansari and their accomplice from there.
The accused were produced before a city court, which remanded them in police custody until Oct 13.
Police recovered from them 36 SIM cards of various mobile companies, eight mobile phones, 19 ATM cards of various banks and two cheque books, one country-made pistol and six live cartridges.
Further investigation is underway, sources added.
