Thadou Student’s body urges communities to shun violence in Manipur

Despite having lost its registered office in Haokip Veng in Imphal and the secretariat complex at Talulong village in Kangpokpi’s Sadar Hills, it hasn’t lost hope in the return of normalcy in the state, TSA  said.

Imphal: Terming the current violence in Manipur a shame to the state and nation, Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) has urged both the warring communities – the Meiteis and Kukis –  to shun the violence so as to bring peace in the state that we love and care about.

Manipur has contributed immensely to the nation, thereby bringing many laurels and achievements that the state is proud of in terms of games and sports, education and academics, medical sciences and healthcare. But the current violence has brought shame not only to the state but also to the nation, the TSA said in a statement here on Friday.

The study body said the precious innocent lives lost during the ethnic conflict have been truly unfortunate.

Despite having lost its registered office in Haokip Veng in Imphal and secretariat complex at Talulong village in Kangpokpi’s Sadar Hills, it hasn’t lost hope in the return of normalcy in the state, TSA  said. 

The TSA also appealed to everyone to shun violence and march forward in the path of development and progress in this competitive world. 

The Thadou Students’ Association said it was extremely perturbed by recent incidents of mob violence and gun fights amongst civilian in the beautiful state of Manipur and added that it vehemently condemned all forms of violence in the strongest term perpetrated by any community, irrespective of the Meiteis, Zo tribals. 

Seeking blessings and cooperation of the Thadou community, the TSA  said as it enters its 67th year of establishment with the newly elected team for the three-year tenure, it was praying for peace in our beloved state, Manipur.
