Hyderabad: Registered national and state political parties and every contesting candidate must seek certification for political advertisements on electronic media no later than three days before the proposed broadcast date, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj said here on Wednesday.Unregistered political parties or other individuals should apply no later than seven days prior to the telecast date, Raj said at a meeting with political parties.As of now, 36 approvals have been granted by the State Level Certification Committee with regard to political advertisements.Raj apprised the political parties of the procedures and instructions mandated by the Election Commission of India.
Additional CEO Lokesh Kumar, Joint CEO Sarfraj Ahmad, and Deputy CEO M Satyavani were present during the deliberations.
Raj said the withdrawal of nominations must be submitted to the Returning Officers by the candidate, one of their proposers, or their election agent. In cases where the candidate is unable to file their withdrawal, written authorization from the candidate should accompany the withdrawal notice, empowering the election agent or proposer to act on their behalf.
A Suvidha Portal has been established to facilitate permissions and nominations for stakeholders, with 10,760 permissions granted to date, he said.
The distribution of Voter Information Slips will commence after November 10. These slips will be distributed by BLOs (Booth Level Officers) and will only be handed over to registered voters or adult members of the voters’ families who are also registered voters.
Raj urged citizens to utilise the cVigil app to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct to the Election Commission. So far, 3,205 complaints have been received through the app, of which 1,961 cases have been verified and resolved by the ROS (Returning Officers).
He also detailed the procedures for the allotment of symbols, seating arrangements for polling agents, mock polls, tender votes, challenged votes, postal ballots, safety and security arrangements, and more.
