Telangana BC Commission gears up for caste data enumeration

Hyderabad: Telangana Backward Classes (BC) Commission has unanimously endorsed to initiate steps for the preliminary mapping to conduct a Socio, Economic, Educational and Employment Opportunities survey for the Backward Classes in the state.

The Chairman and Members of the Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes have officially conducted its first internal meeting after assuming the office at its office on Thursday in order to discuss the scheduled Business Agenda in the context of (its receipt of) Terms of Reference issued by the Government of Telangana.

The Meeting was Chaired by Dr Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, Chairman of the Commission and attended by its Members, Ch Upendra, Subha Pradh Patel Nooli, K.Kishore Goud and Member-Secretary B Venkatesham and deliberated to explore the Scientific Methods to collect the Caste Data in line with the Apex Court Judgments on ‘Triple Tests’, a release here said last night.

The Commission is designated as Dedicated Commission to specify the proportion of reservation required to be provisioned.

Such Caste Data Surveys are already on in the States of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and in some such states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have already done it a long time back which will help the Commission to formulate and evolve its own Process and Protocol for Caste Survey.

It was also resolved that the Commission should undertake visits to the States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha and other States to get a ringside and hindsight view of their experiences for an effective way of making Sound and Scientific Caste Database.

It was also decided to hold day-long workshops with the Subject Experts and others who are involved in such Machinery collecting the Caste Data. As a part of such exercise, it received a delegation led by the Chairman and Members of Karnataka BC Commission and exchanged the detailed technical information, the release added.
