New Delhi: Two soldiers were killed when the barrel of a tank burst during firing at the Babina field firing range near Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, it was announced on Friday.
Army officials said the tank was manned by a crew of three, who were provided immediate medical aid and evacuated to the Military Hospital at Babina. However, the commander and the gunner succumbed to their burn injuries.
The driver is out of danger and under treatment.
A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident which took place on Thursday. One of the dead soldiers hailed from Rajasthan while the other was from West Bengal.
