Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana begin ‘Akrosh Padyatra’

Hundreds of SSS workers and farmers led by Mr Shetty gathered in front of Datta sugar factory and began their 'Akrosh Padyatra' shouting slogans for their demands of second installment of Rs 400 for per tone sugarcane for last year's crushing session.

Kolhapur: Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) led by former MP Raju Shetty on Tuesday took out a ‘Akrosh Padyatra’ (wailing yatra) which began from Shree Datta cooperative sugar factory in Shirol of this district Tuesday morning for their demands to get Rs 400 as second installment for per tone sugarcane and not to give permission for crushing session this year without digital balance for sugarcane.

Hundreds of SSS workers and farmers led by Mr Shetty gathered in front of Datta sugar factory and began their ‘Akrosh Padyatra’ shouting slogans for their demands of second installment of Rs 400 for per tone sugarcane for last year’s crushing session.

SSS demanded second installment of Rs 400 for per tone sugarcane from last month and ‘Janjagruti Abhiyan’ also in progress for this issue while a meeting between Mr Shetty and district collector Rahul Rekhavar also took place at district collector office recently which failed and on this ground Mr Shetty had warned that he would intensify the agitation further.

The Padyatra’ would would cover total 37 sugar factories including Gurudatta, Jawahar, Ghorpade, Shahu, Warna, Kranti, Vasantdada, Rajarambalu and others with total 22 days and 533 Km and ended at Uas Parishad (sugarcane convention) at Jaysingpur on November 7.
