Kolkata: West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday visited Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House at Simla Street, Kolkata, for collecting soil under the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ programme.

Taking to twitter, Adhikari said, ” Meri Maati Mera Desh envisions a unified celebration of Bharat’s soil and valour, commemorating the nation’s journey of freedom and progress. “

” By connecting with the land and honoring our heroes, this program will instill a sense of national pride and inspire future generations to protect Bharat’s cherished heritage, ” he opined.

A nationwide drive of collecting mitti (soil) is currently going on, which would be carried to the National Capital for using it to build “Amrit Vatika” near the National War Memorial by fusing the soil, Adhikari said.

This ‘Amrit Vatika’ will also become a grand symbol of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’, he added.
