Strong earthquake tremors felt in Arunachal

There were reports of damages to properties in the Tawang and West Kameng districts. However, no casualty was reported.

Itanagar: Strong tremors were felt across Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning after an earthquake of 6.4 magnitudes on Richter scale with its epicentre in Assam’s Sonitpur district struck at 0751 hours.
There were reports of damages to properties in the Tawang and West Kameng districts. However, no casualty was reported.
According to the preliminary report made available with the Secretary, Disaster Management by the DDMO, Tawang, 22 houses have been damaged by the earthquake in the district. Out of these houses, seven fully and 15 were partially damaged. Two persons have reportedly sustained minor injuries due to the house collapse.
In West Kameng, no major damages were reported except of minor cracks in many places.
A major water pipeline got damaged as a landslide and boulders fell from hill side of the BCT road in between Bhalukpong and Tippi due to the tremors.
The road in between Membachur and Gorbow village was blocked due to landslide and stone falling.
In Lower Subansiri, there was report of minor damage to a electric pole at Pistana.
