New Delh: Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s mother Paola Maino passed away in Italy last week, the party said here on Wednesday.
“Sonia Gandhi’s mother, Paola Maino passed away at her home in Italy on Saturday August 27,” Congress general secretary in-charge of Communications Jairam Ramesh wrote in a tweet.
The funeral took place on Tuesday, he informed.
The Congress chief is currently abroad for her medical check-up.
