Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion foiled cross border smuggling of contrabands at Kwatha village in Tengnoupal district on Friday and recovered goods worth about Rs 7.33 lakhs.

During border domination patrol, troops of Assam Rifles observed suspicious movements of a few individuals carrying loads on their head. On being challenged by the security forces, the individuals dropped the headloads and fled into the jungle, AR official said.

On thorough search of the packages, contraband items to include liquor, cigarettes, mosquito coils, cosmetics items, and electronic items were recovered.

The recovered items were assessed to be worth Rs 7.33 lakhs. The recovered contraband items were handed over to Customs Representative, Moreh for further investigation.
