Imphal: Assam Rifles personnel foiled cross-border smuggling of narcotics at Khudengthabi in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on Thursday and seized narcotics worth Rs 3.01 crores.

Assam Rifles officials said during routine checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle. On thorough search of the vehicle, 1.5 kg of brown sugar in 37 soap cases concealed inside the front and rear of the vehicle, were recovered.  

The recovered items along with the drug peddler were handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation.
