Agartala: The North Tripura police arrested six Rohingyas including a female and two children at Dharmanagar railway station for travelling without valid travel documents, police said on Thursday.

Police said the woman was found possessing a United Nations identity card as a Rohingya refugee, but the remaining could not produce any document. Instead, they claimed that they came to Tripura to visit a relative’s house, which has still been under investigation.

All of them were taken to Dharmanagar police station for interrogation to know their real identities, said a police officer and added they came from Delhi to Dharmanagar by Tripura Sundari express.

And, their final destination was Kailashahar, a border subdivision of Unokoti district. “We found inconsistency in their statements.

Moreover, they could not speak Bengali, English or Hindi. Law will take it’s own course if they fail to show valid documents,” police added.
