Gangtok: Chief Minister PS Tamang chairing a COVID19 review meeting, here Saturday decided to extend the ongoing lockdown till the end of the month.
Following which R Telang Principal Secretary, Home has ordered certain steps for containment of COVID19, to be implemented from 24th May’21.
The extended lockdown will be imposed with some relaxation.
Works under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) will be allowed by concerned District Collectors, in the wards with Zero COVID cases. Temi Tea Garden will function with 50% of workers.
No State Govt offices will be functioning during the period, similarly, private commercial establishments, Gyms, markets will remain closed, also factories not producing any medical goods.
Sikkim Manipal has been allowed to hold medical exams.
Allowing some relief to the public, it has been announced that Ration shops and Vegetable shops will be open from 8 am to 11 am during the lockdown. Anyone moving on the road due to anything important or even emergency, will be allowed on production of Identity Card.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers and Officers.
