Sikkim CM Tamang gets first dose of COVID vaccine

Gangtok: Starting the ‘Tika Utsav’ in the state, Chief Minister PS Tamang also got the first dose of COVID 19 vaccine on Sunday here at the Government hospital, followed by his wife Krishna Rai, Minister for Rural Development Sonam Lama and his Secretary. The Teeka Utsav will continue from today till 14th April.

“Covishield vaccine, that is being used in Sikkim is safe. I am feeling comfortable enough after the first dose, there is no pain. It is to save a life. We have started four-day long ‘Tika Utsav’, in the state from today. 2nd wave of Corona Pandemic is spreading across the country. All those above 45 should get themselves vaccinated in their respective centres,’ said Chief Minister. He has thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dr Harsha Vardhan, Union Minister for Health for the vaccination drive.

In the meantime, Minister for Roads & Bridges Samdup Lepcha, MLAs Em Prasad, Tashi Thendup Bhutia and KC Lepcha have developed infection. Minister R & B has been undergoing treatment at Govt Hospital, here, while others are undergoing Quarantine at home.
