Sikkim CM greets people on occasion of Losar

Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang on Tuesday greeted the people on the occasion of Tibetan New Year ‘Losar’.

‘I convey my greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim, especially the Tibetan and Sherpa communities, on the auspicious occasion of Losar’, said CM.

‘The festival symbolises the traditions of love, brotherhood, tolerance, and communal harmony, which the people of Sikkim have cherished since times immemorial.As it brings new hopes and opportunities in our lives, the festivity motivates all to look ahead with positivity and start the year with enhanced strength and renewed commitment,’ he said.

‘While welcoming the new year let us strengthen our bond of brotherhood amongst all communities and faiths and take our State to newer heights. I pray that Losar ushers in peace and prosperity in the State and fills the lives of the people with happiness and well-being,’ Tamang added.

Celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm, ‘Losar’ marks the Tibetan New Year, a harvest festival celebrated by the portrayal of ‘Chaam’ or other traditional dances. Losar is the most important of all Tibetan Buddhist festivals, and it is celebrated with great fanfare around the world.
