Gangtok: Sikkim MLAs got a new Speaker as the two-day Legislative Assembly session began a day back and at least 12 bills are set to be discussed on Tuesday.
Fifty-four-year-old Arun Upreti secured 30 votes out of a total of 32 members strength as Sikkim Democratic party MLA PK Chamling remained absent on Monday
Chief Minister PS Tamang introduced the First Supplementary Demands of Grants for Rs 35,972.27 lakh to be considered on Tuesday.
Twelve bills, including amendment bills, have been introduced. The bills would be discussed and passed later in the day.
