Hamirpur (HP): Thousands of men, women and children on Sunday took part in the bhandaras (free feed) after observing a day-long fast on Saturday on the occasion of the Mahashivratri across the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Being Sunday, a holiday today, people visited the temples of Lord Shiva, offered their respects to the master of the Universe and broke their fast by taking part in the bhandaras.
All the Shiva temples were beautifully decorated and people were seen offering doodh-lassi on the Shiva lingams as per old rituals.
In the Hamirpur district, such functions were held at almost all big and small places where devotees of Lord Shiva continued to raise the slogans of ‘Jai Bhole Nath’.
The main function was held at the Gasota Mahadev temple near here where thousands of people took part in the Bhandara.
