Shah enquires about Assam flood situation

Shah informed that the NDRF teams are already on the ground, conducting relief and rescue operations, and adequate forces are on standby.

New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and enquired about the state’s flood situation. Shah also assured Sarma of all possible assistance.

“Due to heavy rain, the people in parts of Assam are braving a flood-like situation. I have spoken to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji and assured all possible assistance,” the HM said in a tweet.

Shah informed that the NDRF teams are already on the ground, conducting relief and rescue operations, and adequate forces are on standby.

“The Modi government stands firm as it has always been with the people of Assam in these difficult times,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Assam CM expressed his gratitude to the HM for his proactive response and concern regarding the flood situation in Assam.

“We are grateful to PM Narendra Modi Ji for all the help to the state from Government of India,” Sarma said.The Assam Government is on high alert and providing all assistance to the affected persons, he added.
