Seven-year-old Bengal boy, who tested positive for Omicron, now Covid negative

The boy, now at an isolation ward at Malda medical college and hospital, was under observational, district’s Chief Medical Officer (Health).

Kolkata: A seven-year-old boy, who had tested positive for the Omicron variant of Coronavirus, was found negative on Thursday after a Covid-19 test, Malda district health chief Papri Nayak said.

The boy, now at an isolation ward at Malda medical college and hospital, was under observational, district’s Chief Medical Officer (Health).

The boy’s father and elder sister, also admitted to the same hospital, were also found negative after their Covid tests.

The authorities, however, are compiling a list of people who had come into contact with the boy since he was brought into the state on December 11.

The boy, who returned from Abu Dhabi along with his family members, tested positive during a random Coronavirus test conducted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad near Telangana’s capital Hyderabad on Sunday night.

On reaching the state, the family had gone to the boy’s maternal grandmother’s place in Malda district’s Kaliachak. From there, they drove to their house at Baniagram in Farakka block of Murshidabad district.
