Imphal: Manipur Works Minister K Govindas Singh on Monday informed the Assembly while replying to a question raised by Janghemlung Panmei said that there is a plan of the State Government to upgrade the Historic Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar Road) to the status of National Highway.
He further informed that the said road is among the seven roads whose upgradation to NH status have been approved in principle.
Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong Road is under progress with physical progress of 78% and financial progress of 72.60% as on 31st January, 2023; the loan closing date of the project is scheduled on 30.06.2023, the minister said.
PHED, Ministe Leishangthem Susindro while replying to a question by Ranjit Singh on the water requirement in Imphal area, informed the House that 133.52 MLD of waters are required by the inhabitants of Imphal areas daily and 85 MLD of water are sourced from Chingkhei hill through Maphou Dam.
He claimed under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 75 percent households in the state received tap water following the JJM guidelines.
L. Susindro expressed that the Village Water Sanitation Committee plays a major role in successfully implementing the water supply scheme in the state.
