Seven dead in Saraikela as pick-up van overturns: CM expresses grief

Police said that the incident took place on the Rajnagar-Chaibasa road. Police said that nearly 30 workers were travelling in the pick-up van which was travelling to Rajnagar from Chaibasa. The vehicle overturned at Khairbani village.

Saraikela: Seven labourers, including a woman, lost their lives and at least a dozen others sustained injuries as a pick-up van in which they were travelling overturned under the Rajnagar Police Station area of this district on Thursday.


Police said that the incident took place on the Rajnagar-Chaibasa road. Police said that nearly 30 workers were travelling in the pick-up van which was travelling to Rajnagar from Chaibasa. The vehicle overturned at Khairbani village.

Among the injured, eight were stated to be critical and had been sent to Jamshedpur after being provided first aid at Rajnagar community health care centre. Relief and rescue measures are still on.


Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed his grief over the accident. He said that the district administration is looking after the treatment of the injured.


He has prayed to the almighty to rest their souls in peace and give strength to the families to overcome the burden of loss.
