Imphal: A One one-day sensitisation program on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, was held at the Farmer’s Training Hall of Directorate of Agriculture, Sanjenthong, Imphal, on Monday.
The programme was jointly organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Manipur.
Speaking at the function, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson of MSCW said that this sensitization program is very important for women to be aware of Sexual Harassment of Women in the Workplace and its prevention, prohibition and redressal act.
The Chairperson stated that empowering women is important because women play a major role in society. Education and a healthy lifestyle also helps in empowering women.. Women contribute 50% in income generation of the society as well as the, she said.
Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang further said that understanding each other is necessary for both the man and woman in sorting out any problem they faced. Any issues related to sexual harassment at workplace should be brought to the notice of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).
During the technical session, Thiyam Rajkishore Singh, Advocate, highlighted the importance of The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
Member Secretary, W. Phajatombi Devi, MSCW Members Lourembam Dayabati and Sofia Mayon and Peter Salam, Director Agriculture, Government of Manipur were on the dais as the presidium members.
Interaction Session between the experts and the participants was also one of the main highlights of the sensitization programme.
