Imphal: One thousand and sixty-four people received Covid-19 vaccine shots in Manipur’s Sekmai Assembly constituency on Tuesday, setting a record for the highest number of vaccinations in a single day for any constituency in Imphal West district.
Till now, 10,66,127 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines in the entire state, with 22,623 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
On Tuesday, long queues of beneficiaries were seen at the various locations in the constituency including Sekmai Kangjeibung Upper Primary School, Sekmai Khunou, where local MLA H Dingo personally came and supervised the vaccination drive.
Dingo was visibly happy seeing the presence of a large number of people coming out of their homes to get vaccinated despite having a complete lockdown in the entire state for the last two days. An overwhelmed MLA said that so far 11 thousand people have received Covid vaccine shots and will continue it till the last house of the constituency.
Following the T3 mantra of Trace, Test and Treat, MLA Dingo said contact tracing for the Covid-19 pandemic and door-to-door screening of up to 700 houses have been conducted so far.
Stating that nothing is more important than saving lives, Dingo also urged people not to play with ‘low-level politics’, and said that development will definitely come one day if we are all healthy and alive. Instead, he said, all the people should join hands in this fight against the dreaded disease.
The MLA also assured that he will continue to distribute all the essential items to all the containment zones in his constituency and said if needed anyone can contact him and may seek his help. People with Covid positive can be admitted at the Sadar Patel School, Khurkhul, if they wish to, Dingo added.
