Itanagar: The security forces have arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) outfit in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, an official said on Tuesday.
He said the Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles along with the State Police apprehended an ENNG cadre from the general area of Zibo Colony, Longding district on Monday..
As per the official, based on a specific input regarding presence of an ENNG cadre in the general area of Zibo Colony of Longding town, a joint operation along with State Police was launched. During the extensive search of the suspected area, the cadre was apprehended by the joint team.
“The initial interrogation has revealed that the cadre was involved in motivating the youth for joining the ENNG faction,” the official said, while adding that the apprehension of the active cadre of the banned outfit is a major setback to insurgent groups operating in the region.
Meanwhile, the arrested cadre has been handed over to the Longding Police for further investigation, he added.
