SC recommends Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh as permanent judge of Manipur High Court

As on February 16, 2022, Manipur High Court which has a sanctioned strength of 5 judges, is functioning with 4 judges, a vacancy position of 1.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium on Wednesday recommended Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh, Additional Judge of the Manipur High Court as Permanent Judge of the High Court.

As on February 16, 2022, Manipur High Court which has a sanctioned strength of 5 judges, is functioning with 4 judges, a vacancy position of 1.

Notably, on February 20, 2020, the Collegium had recommended appointment of Justice Bimol as the Additional Judge of the Manipur High Court. On March 18, 2020, Justice Bimol had taken oath as the Additional Judge.

The Collegium also approved the proposal for appointment of six Advocates as Judges in the Madras High Court and 10 Advocates as Judge in the Bombay High Court, an official statement of the Supreme Court said.

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held here, approved the proposal for elevation of 10 Advocates as Judges in the Madras High Court. Advocates Kabali Kumaresh Babu, S Sounthar, Abdul Ghani Abdul Hameed, R John Sathyan, Nidumolu Mala and Sunder Mohan have been recommended as judges in the Madras High Court.

The names of Advocates Kishore Chandrakant Sant, Valmiki Menezes, Kamal Rashmi Khata, Sharmila Uttamrao Deshmukh, Arun Ramnath Pednekar, Sandeep Vishnupant Marne, Gauri Vinod Godse, Rajesh Shantaram Patil, Arif Saleh Doctor and Somasekhar Sundaresan were recommended for elevation as judges in the Bombay High Court.
