Road collision in Philippines kills 4, injures 3

Manila: A light truck transporting hogs collided with another truck along a highway at dawn Tuesday in the southern Philippine city of Zamboanga, killing four and injuring three others, police said.

Police Captain John Agustin of the Zamboanga City police said more than a dozen hogs were also killed in the accident at around 5:30 a.m. local time.

With six passengers, the delivery truck was heading south from Zamboanga Sibugay province to deliver hogs to Zamboanga City when it hit the other truck, which was making a backing maneuver on the highway, before ramming into an electric post.

According to Agustin, the four dead were all passengers of the hog-delivery truck.

The hogs were strewn haphazardly on the ground due to the collision’s impact, Agustin added.
