Imphal: Fulfilling his promise, Sagolband Assembly constituency MLA Rajkumar Imo Wednesday extended financial support to those families whose members died of Covid-19.

RK Imo distributed Rs 20,000 each to 16 families whose member/s died due to the second wave of the Covid pandemic. There have been 18 Covid related deaths in the Sagolband constituency till now. The remaining families will also be given the said relief very soon, said the MLA. Though this gesture cannot bring back the lives of the family members, this is just to let the people feel that they are a part of the Sagolband family and we will fight this disease together, Imo added.

Stating that the last couple of months have been very challenging for the whole state of Manipur, resulting in many positive Covid cases and Covid related deaths across the state, RK Imo urged the people to stay at home and ensure the safety of their family members.

He also appealed to all the eligible people in Manipur and Sagolband in particular to get vaccinated as soon as possible, as this is the only way to defeat the Covid.

Imo further informed that Sagolband has also been able to vaccinate more than 5,000 people across all age groups at the Bijoy Govinda Centre.

Aggressive mass Covid Testing is also being conducted across Sagolband at various localities, which will ensure the isolation/early treatment of the patients and stop the spread to their families and localities.

Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee members are constantly monitoring the Covid situation in Sagolband, testing, isolating, treating all those affected people under the guidance of the Health Department and distributing essential items like rice, onions, potatoes, edible oil, papad including medicines to all those quarantined at home, he added.
