Imphal: Former MLA of Naoriya Pakahnglakpa constituency, R K Anand who left Congress to join BJP had some sort of a homecoming on Monday as he rejoined the Congress.
R K Anand was felicitated at the Congress Bhavan on his rejoining the Congress party at a function at Congress Bhavan, which was attended by CLP leader O Ibobi, MPCC president N Loken, AICC Manipur-in-charge Bhakt Charan Das, CWC member Gaikhangam, MPCC working president K Meghachandra, among others.
Speaking at the felicitation function, CLP leader O Ibobi described RK Anand’s rejoining the Congress as a joyous occasion. He recalled the contribution of RK Anand on various issues of the state and that his intellect and legal knowledge will be an asset to the party.
He further asserted that this election will bring about a change in the state since the people of the state can no longer be fooled by cheap publicity. Stating that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister visited the state a number of times, he asked what they did for the state during those visits.
MPCC president N Loken Singh welcoming RK Anand to the congress party once again reiterated that the intending candidates are going to spell doom for the BJP. “Come March 10, BJP will be wiped out of Manipur”, he predicted. By March 19, a Congress-led coalition will once again be at the helm of affairs and will bring Manipur back on track after five years of wilderness, he added.
