Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar: Former Congress MP and senior party leader Hussain Dalwai has said reservation is necessary for the uplift of Muslim society.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday evening here after a meeting on the subject of Muslim reservation, he said a grand reservation conference will be held in Mumbai on October 21.
Even though various communities have progressed after independence, the Muslim minority community remains backward, and its uplift is necessary to increase the speed of development in the country, he said.
The reservations for Maratha, OBC and Dhangar communities are being discussed in Maharashtra, but no one is talking about Muslim reservation, he pointed out.
The Muslim community is in dire need of reservation for education and employment, he said.
he said while efforts were on to give reservation to the Maratha community, conferences on granting reservations to the Muslim should be held across the state through the Maulana Azad Vichar Manch.
Dalwai said in the future, a campaign of signatures will be conducted by holding reservation conferences in Aurangabad, Solapur, Dhule, Malegaon and other cities.
Notably, a delegation of prominent Muslims, led by Jangagran Samiti Maharashtra founder president and former corporator Mohsin Ahmed had submitted their memorandum addressed to the chief minister to for implementation of reservation for theMmuslim community.
