Republic Day: Traffic diversions in Imphal on 24 & 26 Jan, check which route to avoid

Other vehicles without valid car passes will be diverted, said a statement.

Imphal: Ahead of the Republic Day celebration on January 26, the Traffic Control Police Wing of the Manipur Police department has announced traffic diversions in parts of the city on January 24 and 26.

For the smooth celebration of Republic Day and in the public interest, vehicles except that of the VIP(S) and Invitee(s) having valid car passes issued by State Home Department, will not be allowed to ply toward the north of Krishna Premi Oil pump, Moirangkhom on NH-2, Keishampat to Khwai Bazaar, Maharani Bridge to Dukanthong, Babuthong, Kangchup road to Flyover, Khoyathong to North AOC and Sanjenthong to West Gate of Kangla and Keishampat Bridge from 6.30 am to 8 am on 24th and 26th January respectively till the function is over.

Other vehicles without valid car passes will be diverted, said a statement.

The following traffic diversions are arranged in the interest and safety of the general public:

  1. Indo-Burma road: All vehicles coming from South toward North will be diverted from Singjamei bridge and New Thumbuthong bridge toward Kongba side and proceed up to Palace Compount and park there.
  2. Mayang Imphal road: All vehicles coming from South toward North will be diverted from Keishampat Junction towards former Krishnadas Oil pump to drop/pick passengers beyond former Oil pump and will proceed toward Kwakeithel and then toward Ningthemcha Karong or Khagempalli road.
  3. NH-39: All vehicles coming from North toward South will be diverted from Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak toward Khuman Lampak bus Terminus. All vehicles will be diverted from MMTA toward Minuthong, RDS Crossing, Kongba road then New Thumbuthong and Singjamei bridge or towards Pandon road, Dingku Road.
  4. Eastern Side (Yaingangpokpi/Lamlai/Porompat/Andro etc): All vehicles will be diverted toward Khuman Lampak Bus Terminus from RDS crossing via Lamlong Bazaar. As for trucks same as above for NH-39 or toward RDS crossing Singjamei Bazaar crossing and Thumbuthong for Indo-Burma road towards Pishumthong for Mayang Imphal to Tiddim road. No vehicle will be allowed to proceed from Palace Gate Traffic Point towards Sanjenthong side. No vehicle will be allowed to proceed from Minuthong toward North AOC.
  5. New Cachar Road (NH-53): All vehicles coming from New Cachar road will be parked at Sagoldband Moirang Leirak bus parking. Trucks will be diverted from Tera Bazar toward Naoremthong Uripok Canteen road and Lamphel Sanakeithel, Lamphelpat.
  6. Kangchup Road: All the vehicles coming from Kangchup side will be parked at the northern side of UK Road (i.e beyond the end of Flyover bridge).
  7. Tiddim Road: All vehicles will be diverted from Kwakeithel Bazard toward Tera Bazar, Naoremthong, Uripok Canteen Leirak road, Lamphal Supermarket and coming back via Watham Leirak, Thangmeiband road, Nagamapal Road, Wahengbam Leikai road, Keishampat Junction and pick up passengers from Churachandpur Bus parking, Keishampat near former Krishnadas Oil Pump.

There will be no diversion for any such vehicle that engaged for emergency services/duties, the statement added.
