PWF awards Rs 1,50,000/- as medical assistance to four Journalists

PWF’s team led by its Chairman and Managing Trustee, Wangkhem Shamjai and Kakchingtabam Bijoy, Senior Trustees Ningthoukhongjam Tombiraj and other trustees of PWF handed over the financial assistance to the four beneficiaries of MFA 2023-24 Phase -1 at a simple distribution function held at the Manipur Press Club.

Imphal: Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF) invites applications for MFA (second phase) for the year 2023-24 for treatment expenditure incurred between, October 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. The disbursement for which will be done in April-May 2024. This announcement comes after AMWJU’s non-profit, Trust, PWF disbursed on Thursday Rs. 1,50,000/- as assistance under the Medical Financial Assistance (MFA) Phase I for the 2023-24 for medical expenses incurred between April 1 to September 31, 2023.

PWF’s team led by its Chairman and Managing Trustee, Wangkhem Shamjai and Kakchingtabam Bijoy, Senior Trustees Ningthoukhongjam Tombiraj and other trustees of PWF handed over the financial assistance to the four beneficiaries of MFA 2023-24 Phase -1 at a simple distribution function held at the Manipur Press Club.

Altogether, five applications were received, seeking assistance under the Medical Financial Assistance scheme (first phase) for 2023-24 for treatment incurring between April  1 to September 31, 2023. Subsequently, the applications were all forwarded to the PWF Medical Board, consisting of doctors from RIMS, JNIMS and Shija Hospitals. After due deliberation, the Medical Board chose not to consider of one the application as the period of treatment was not covered in the first phase. The Board gave its recommendations on the four remaining applications, which were later approved by the Board of Trustees for disbursement. However,

 Chongtham Bilanta of Naharol Thoudang whose wife was treated for cataracts on both eyes received Rs. 15 as assistance while Heijeilungle Newmei of People Chronicle who had applied for financial assistance for her mother’s thoracic received the maximum assistance of Rs. 70,000/-. Elangbam Rameshwor of Naharol Thoubal was assisted with Rs. 30,000/- towards medical expenses incurred on his son’s hernia treatment while Khagokpam Nabakumar received Rs. 35,000/- as assistance for the treatment of his wife’s Thyroid ailment.  Alternately, PWF also reimbursed Rs. 44,000/- to AMWJU against expenses incurred while providing immediate financial assistance to its members during the period between 1st April to 31st September 2023 under PWF’s Immediate Medical Relief Fund, according to a press note from the secretary PWF.
