Chandigarh/New Delhi: Ahead of Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-elections, Congress on Wednesday expelled its ex-MLA from Jalandhar west assembly segment for indulging in “anti-party” activities.

One-line office order issued by the All-India Congress Committee said, “Sushil Kumar Rinku, Ex MLA is hereby expelled from the party with immediate effect for indulging in anti-party activities.”

The said office order is signed by the incharge of Congress organisation in Punjab Harish Chaudhary.

There were speculations that Mr Rinku might join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and might contest Jalandhar Loksabha by-elections as an AAP candidate.

By-elections are scheduled on May 10.
