Rama Mandi (Bathinda): Accusing SAD and AAP of not doing anything for the development of the holy town of Talwandi Sabo, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday announced to construct a Heritage street in Talwandi Sabo on the lines of already existing in Amritsar and Sri Chamkaur Sahib.

Addressing a rally at Grain Market here today, Channi said that while Badal’s only focussed their attention on increasing their wealth they totally neglected this religious town. He said that strenuous efforts will be made to develop this religious town.

He announced a slew of measures for the overall development of the Talwandi Sabo Constituency. He said that a model school will be made in Rama Mandi just like the one made recently in Kharar so that children of the area get the best education. Expressing concern over traffic snarls, he also announced to make a flyover in Rama Mandi.

He questioned his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal as to why he announced RS 2500 for the women in Goa and why not the same or even Rs 5,000 for Punjab women. He said that AAP is an outsider who has done nothing but only false promises.

He refreshed his last visits’ memories when he came on a bicycle.
“This time I came on a helicopter and it’s all because of your love and faith”, he said.

He said that the Rs 17,000 compensation to the farmers affected by pink bollworm will get compensation within the next one week.
He lauded the efforts made by Congress leader and Talwandi Sabo Halqa in charge of Khushbaaz Jattana for highlighting the pending issues pertaining to the area. He said that the Congress government will not leave any stone unturned for the overall development of Talwandi Sabo and Rama Mandi.

Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said that Punjab Roadways and Punbus added Rs 1.28 crores into the coffers of the state exchequer daily and also the Rs 14 crore tax is collected from the defaulter Badal buses. He also lashed out at Capt Amarinder Singh for taking the false oath of Gutka Sahib.

Earlier, Channi laid foundation stone of New Vegetable Market at Rama Mandi.
