Hoshiarpur: Two inmates committed suicide by hanging themselves in the bathroom of the Central Jail here early Friday morning.
Police said one of the deceased has been identified as Titu of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, presently a resident of Bassi Pind Mana. He was booked in rape case registered in the Sadar police station Hoshiarpur.
Another deceased, Omkar of Hoshiarpur was booked under NDPS act.
Senior Civil, Police and Judicial officers rushed to the Central jail immediately after they were informed about the incident.
Bodies of both the deceased inmates have been sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem.
Notably, earlier in the year 2017 , two jail inmates Surinder Paul and Sunil had also committed suicide by hanging selves with the help of an iron hook in the Central Jail premises.
