President to grace 37th Arunachal Statehood Day function on Feb 20

Khandu called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi today and invited her to grace the 37th Statehood Day function in the State capital on February 20.

Itanagar: President Droupadi Murmu has ‘consented’ to grace the 37th Statehood Day function of Arunachal Pradesh on February 20 at Itanagar, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on Monday.

Khandu called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi today and invited her to grace the 37th Statehood Day function in the State capital on February 20.

“Today I called on Hon President Smt Droupadi Murmu Ji and received her blessings, and guidance. Invited Hon President to grace the 37th Statehood Day function on Feb 20 at Itanagar. Glad to share that Madam President has accepted the invitation. Arunachal eagerly awaits her arrival,” Khandu wrote on Twitter.

This will be her maiden visit to Arunachal Pradesh after becoming the President of India. Murmu had earlier visited the frontier state in July 2022 in the run-up to the presidential polls to garner support for her.

Arunachal Pradesh, also called the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’, attained full-fledged statehood on February 20, 1987, becoming the 24th State of the Indian Union.
