President Murmu likely to lay foundation of Tripura’s digital museum on October 14

Tourism Minister Pranajit Sinha Roy told media that the Ministry of Tourism has accepted the proposal for turning the century-old palace into a digital museum and sanctioned Rs 40 Cr.

Agartala: The President of India Draupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Tripura on October 14 for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the digital museum at 105 years old historic Pushpabanta Palace, which had been functioned as Raj Bhawan for 46 years.

Tourism Minister Pranajit Sinha Roy told media that the Ministry of Tourism has accepted the proposal for turning the century-old palace into a digital museum and sanctioned Rs 40 Cr.

The President of India has agreed to lay the foundation and pay her maiden visit to the state.

He pointed out that the BJP government has been working for the development of tourism industry in the state since its first day of office and some significant developments in the tourism sector were made in the last four years, which increased the footfall manifolds in tourist destinations of Tripura.

All the historical and natural tourist spots have been renovated and added with all modern facilities while other ancillary services including hotels, food parks, and transport were brought to the fold of tourist-friendly provisions. 

The minister stated that the attraction of Tripura got introduced all over the country and gradually got a footprint in the national tourism landscape. 

“The innovative concept of religious tourism has been conceptualized and accordingly work for setting up a replica of all 51 Shakti Devis in a single complex at Tripura Sundari temple has begun under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme,” Singharoy said.

The tourism ministry had sanctioned Rs 44 Cr for renovation and addition of facilities in the temple area. 

The state government has also allocated 14.22 acres of land around the temple where temples and idols of all 51 Shakti piths would be constructed in a place, which is located in different locations of Asia.

Out of the 51 Shakti piths, 38 are in India, six in Bangladesh, three in Nepal, two in Pakistan, and one each in Tibet and in Sri Lanka, which is impossible for a common man to get pilgrimage of all the 51 Shakti piths in a lifetime.

So, the Tripura government is constructing the exact replicas of the Shakti piths here to provide the opportunity to the devotees, he added.

The presence of domestic and foreign tourists in the state has increased by 50 per cent after Covid situation. The department has received Rs 200 from Asian Development Bank for further development of tourism industry in Tripura.

Dr Manik Saha is scheduled to launch para-gliding to promote adventure tourism in Jampui Hill along the Mizoram border on September 29 as part of the celebration of World Tourism Day”, he added.
