Shillong: Pradip Kumar took over as the new Inspector General of the Border Security Force’s (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier on Saturday, which shares 443 kilometres of the India-Bangladesh international border, according to a senior BSF officer.
Kumar took over for Inspector General Inderjit Singh Rana, who is now assigned to the BSF training centre in Hazaribagh after commanding the BSF Frontier Meghalaya for a year and six months.
Kumar is a 2003 batch IPS from the Tamil Nadu cadre who served as DIG Confidential/Vigilance at Force Headquarters New Delhi before taking over as BSF Frontier Meghalaya commander.
On taking over the charge of Frontier, Kumar emphasised the need for cooperation and coordination among all the stakeholders for effective management of the border with Bangladesh.
“Development and upliftment of the border population would remain our prime concern,” he added.
