Imphal: Covid positive cases are increasing rapidly as Manipur goes to Assembly poll on February 27 and March 3 next.
As election campaign gained momentum and a mega rally was held on January 4 addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here, 76 new Covid cases were detected during the last 24 hours, according to State health official here on Saturday.
The figure was 59 on Friday.
One person died due to Covid taking the toll to 2010.
The positive cases from the general population were from Imphal East (22), Imphal West (9), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (8), Senapati (6), Noney (1), Ukhrul (1) and Churachandpur (19).
Five security personnel were also found Covid positive.
Seven persons were discharged and the number of active cases increased to 414.
The cumulative number of positive cases was 1,26,088 and recovered cases 1,23,664. The recovery rate was 98.08 per cent and positivity rate was 3.1.
