Political parties name their candidates for Nagaland polls

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), which has no representative in the present Assembly, in a release issued by Mukul Wasnik, the General Secretary of CEC, named out 4 candidates, which is in addition to the 21 earlier candidates who got the party tickets.

Kohima: More political parties came out with their lists of candidates for the elections of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held on February 27.

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), which has no representative in the present Assembly, in a release issued by Mukul Wasnik, the General Secretary of CEC, named out 4 candidates, which is in addition to the 21 earlier candidates who got the party tickets.


The Naga People’s Front (NPF), which has only one legislator in the present Assembly, has already announced 21 as the party nominees to file nominations.

According to sources of the parties including the Janata Dal (United), the Republican Party of India (Athawale) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to declare their candidates, while the Naga People’s Front (NPF) declared six of their official candidates and the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) released a list of 4 more candidates.

According to a JD (U) release issued by Central General Secretary Afaque Admad Khan informed that a list eight candidates were selected as party nominees and said that it was in the process of finalizing its list of candidates.


In a release issued by the Republican Party of India (Athawale), through its General Secretary, Sentiwapang Longkumer revealed the names of 8 candidates to contest the Nagaland Assembly Elections.


In a separate release issued by NCP’s Nagaland State unit President Vanthungo Odyuo informed that the NCP will contest from 12 Assembly Constituencies of Nagaland.
