Shillong: Meghalaya police on Wednesday took the murder accused Joperson Jana to the crime spot, where he had allegedly slit his two minor kids to death on Monday night, for collecting evidence.
On the other hand, the powerful Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has demanded that the case be tried at a fast track court to ensure speedy trial and justice for the victims.
On Monday evening, Jana went to his wife’s residence and took his two children – four-year-old daughter and two-year-old son – for a walk.
He usually took his children for such evening walks. But on that fateful evening, he didn’t drop the kids back home to their mother and his mobile phone was later found switched off.
The bodies of the two children were found by the residents of the locality on Tuesday at Wah Ktieh inside the forest.
The father who was evading police arrest was arrested from his residence at Nongrah here on Tuesday night after he went missing following the death of his kids.
The accused, who is separated from his wife, was found in his mother’s residence a short distance away from his wife’s house.
An investigation team took Jana to the crime spot and reconstructed the entire crime scene as it occurred on the fateful day when he had picked up his minor kids from his wife’s house at Nongrah Nonglum for an evening walk.
“The accused (Jana) has confessed that he had killed his two kids and on his leading we have recovered the knife from the crime site.” Vivek Syiem, the police chief of Shillong City, told UNI.
Police officials said they are still interrogating Jana to find out the reason behind for taking away the life of his two kids.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the two kids were handed over to the relatives after doctors completed the utopsy.
