Panaji: Taking potshots at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday said that playing football or visiting temples will not work for them as far as Goan politics is concerned.

”Only playing football will not work. Nor will visiting temples work. Will have to reach people. I call upon workers of all the political parties to work for the people. Some people have started fearing that Goa may become self-dependent and that was why they were creating obstructions. They have started protests,” said Sawant while speaking at a government programme near the city.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the poll-bound state recently. While Mr Gandhi kicked a football before addressing party workers, Ms Banerjee visited temples in South Goa during her three day visit.

Goa will go for polls early next year.
